Scholastic 2010 Accepted Entries List


The Scholastic Art Awards is open to all students in seventh to twelfth grade from 70 Kansas counties. The Scholastic Art Awards are the largest and longest running recognition program for young people in the United States. Maurice R. Robinson, the founder of Scholastic, Inc., the children’s publishing and
entertainment company, established the awards in 1923. Alumni of the awards include Truman Capote, Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath and Robert Redford.

 

 

 


The Wichita Center for the Arts
is pleased to announce the American Visions Award recipients from the 2010 Scholastic Art Awards. Five Gold Key recipients are selected from each region as best of Show. These works are reviewed in a special adjudication for the American Visions Award. One National American Visions Award recipient is recognized from each region.

American Visions Nominees for 2010 are:

Student of Brad LeDuc, Washburn Rural High School

You are invited to view these and other original works by Kansas middle school and high school students now on exhibit at the Center from January 26, 2010 – February 21, 2010. The WCFTA Gallery is open from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Tuesday – Sunday and admission is free.
The Scholastic Award Ceremony recognizing exceptional works from the exhibition will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Irene Vickers Baker Theatre and is open to the public.


Sales Gallery


Come by the Center and take a look at the new sales gallery. It is located in the Hurst Gallery, right behind the gallery front desk. There is something for everyone and every price range. Wonderful paintings, ceramics, prints, and much more are available for purchase.

The gallery at The Wichita Center for the Arts is open Tuesday – Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is always free.
