The Winter / Spring 2008 Session is January 14 - April 12, 2008

No class the week of March 17, 2008. No clay classes week of March 24, 2008, for NCECA conference. Make up clay classes will be held the week of April 14, 2008. Members receive priority enrollment benefits.

Youth Silversmithing Ages 12-16
2828---Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
January 15, 2008 – April 8, 2008

Students will learn basic silversmithing techniques including design & layout, sawing, hammering, soldering and Bezel setting stones. Students will design their own projects with instructor supervision. Tools for the class are available at the Center but students will have to purchase their own silver and stones. The amount of silver needed for projects will be determined during the first class and will be available for purchase through the Center. Studio 1

Sketchbook: Youth Drawing (Ages 11-14)

January 19, 2008 - April 12, 2008

Using a variety of drawing techniques and subject matter, we will explore the art of drawing. Emphasis will be placed on experimentation with drawing media: graphite, colored pencils, charcoal and pastels. Studio 6

Supermix (Ages 6-14)

Explore drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, sculpture and more! This class is geared toward the student’s age, skill level, and interest. No prior art experience is necessary. Studio 3

Creating A Calendar (Ages 7-8-9)

Jan. 14, 21, 28 and Feb. 4, 2008

Create your very own original calendar, paint or draw 12 works of art and bind them into a calendar. Work and discuss colors, construction of a scene, themes of each month and different medium choices. Studio 3

Animals, Animals and More Animals! (Ages 7-8-9)

Paint, sketch, and draw all creatures great and small found on the Kansas plains. You will learn about the beautiful Kansas landscape and the native wildlife that live in Kansas. Studio 3.

Open Studio for High School Students

This open studio is dedicated to high school students who want to paint and draw in a relaxed atmosphere. Use of Center supplies included in cost. Studio 6

(Ages 6-10)

Explore the versatile medium of clay in a course that will cover the beginning concepts of ceramics. Clay, glazing and firing are included in the fee. Studio 5

Potter’s Wheel
(Ages 11-15)
2823---Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
January 16, 2008 - April 9, 2008

Learn proper throwing techniques and the fundamentals of working with clay. Emphasis will be placed on developing the skills and creative capacities need to make quality pottery. Tuition covers glazes, firings and 25 lbs of clay. Maximum 12 students.

Family Art Class: Playing in Clay
2825---Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
January 19, 2008 - April 12, 2008

Kids, bring an adult to the Center to enjoy the magic of playing in clay together. Using handbuilding techniques, you will create tiles, boxes, vessels and sculptures together. Child must be accompanied by an adult. Studio 5

WORKING WITH CLAY IS PLAYING
IN THE MUD! DRESS FOR IT!
We suggest you wear jeans and an old
T-shirt. If you are working on the wheel, you need to wear comfortable, tie shoes that have good traction. Short nails work best with clay.
