Great 8 Exhibition 2007

The Kansas Watercolor Society
Returns to the Center
The Kansas Watercolor Society, founded in 1968 and incorporated in 1970 at The Wichita Art Association (now The Wichita Center for the Arts), is returning to the Center, effective July 2007. The Kansas Watercolor Society will cease to be a 501-(C)3 corporation and will merge with The Wichita Center for the Arts and operate as a committee under the Centers organization umbrella. The Kansas Watercolor Society committee chair will serve on the Centers’ Board of Trustees as an ex-officio member.
The Kansas Watercolor Society “Great 8 Exhibition” includes a prestigious group of artists from an eight state area including: Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. The Kansas Watercolor Society “Great 8 Exhibition” will open November 16, 2007 and close January 6, 2008. Slide deadline is September 4, 2007 and Jurors’ Day
is October 13, 2007.
The Kansas Watercolor Society gives the Center another opportunity to offer a juried exhibition to showcase water-media painting to our students, members and the community at large.
The addition of the “Great 8 Exhibition” to the Center’s bi-annual and annual exhibitions brings the total of juried shows at The Wichita Center for the Arts to six. All of these exhibitions feature the disciplines that we teach in The Mary R. Koch School of Visual Arts. This merger is a great fit for The Wichita Center for the Arts and The Kansas Watercolor Society. It insures the continuity of both our missions in encouraging and promoting the study, advancement, appreciation and creation of art as a quality of life opportunity for the inventive mind. |
